Psychotherapeutic Counselor Milton Anthony

As a psychotherapeutic counselor I’d like to say , Hello!  Milton Anthony here, telling you about an additional service I’m offering.  Although it’s a “new addition” in my offered line, I’m no newcomer to performing this service.

I have been licensed, in the state of Alabama, as an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) since March, of 2006.  While an ALC, I’m gaining my necessary 3000 “supervised” hours of counseling, to obtain my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license.  But my role as a therapeutic counselor did not just begin with my acquisition of the ALC license.  No, in addition to over 2500 combined direct and indirect counseling hours, I have over 10,000 hours, (unsupervised) as a clinician, before starting on my path to become a LPC.

My life experiences have given me many insights on counseling procedures, from a “hands-on” practical application concept.  I know of and have been told about some people out there that face some of the individual challenges I have, who have done well.  There are some that face a few of the combined challenges I have and they have done well also.  But when you combine the multitude of physical and emotional challenges I face every day of my life, and, for the most part, keep my attitude and perseverance high in all of my endeavors, the numbers of those people with these combined challenges, are surprisingly few!

When you’re around me for any time at all, I purposely attempt to help you feel better about yourself.  When you watch me deal with my own challenges, the way I do every day of my life, you can’t help but appreciate your own circumstance/situation with a more thankful reverence!  I find joy in reinforcing people’s “thankful appreciation” of their own situation, by providing them information on how to look for and find the productive/positive aspects that exist in their lives.  I also give them tools they can use to pull themselves out of the non-productive “holes,” they may find themselves stuck in and show them a major factor that most of them have completely forgotten.  That factor is simply this.  You are in complete control of your life!  Not necessarily the circumstances that happen in your life, but rather your reaction to those circumstances.

My clinical therapeutic approach is one that involves a heads-up straightforward dealing with one’s problems,  whether those problems be physical, emotional or environmental.

A tremendous explosion, in the form of a bomb that was laid out as a trap for me with intentions of killing me, left me totally blind, multi-amputee and nearly totally deaf.  I was little more than a bloody mass on a hospital bed!  Then, when the so-called “rehabilitation experts” visited my hospital room, they took one look at me and told my first wife, “There’s nothing we can do for him.  He’s beyond rehabilitating!”  And they walked out!!  Like it would do to most people, those words devastated me.  But, unlike most people, I found a driving force from those words and made a decision not to let my disabling conditions keep me from enjoying my life to the fullest potential!

These are just some of the aspects that make me regarded as such a valued player in the counseling field.

My areas of specialty are:

  1. depression/anxiety secondary to chronic pain.  (I have lived with chronic pain for over 25 years.)
  2. PTSD (this is pretty self-explanatory.)
  3. domestic violence (again, self-explanatory.)
  4. substance abuse (I now celebrate sobriety since March of 2002.)

One of my greater attributes is helping people see insights into their own problems.  Now, I’m willing to help you see yours.  I’m offering webinar’s/conference calls, every Tuesday evening, at 7:00 p.m., by going to the following web site:
